Contest Rules
Eligibility:
The Competition is open to high school students (Grade 9-12) in public, private, charter, home-schooled or alternative schools located in the US and US (flag) territories and Canada (excluding Quebec).
Guidelines:
You must enter online:
- All entries must be submitted as digital files.
- Image requirements: JPG files (Please try to keep the file size under 4MB to ensure proper uploading).
- All students are allowed up to 4 free submissions during the "Early Bird Submission" period (June 1 - September 31, 2017). During the "Regular Submission" period (October 1 - Dec 31, 2017), students are allowed up to 4 free submissions.
Artwork must be two-dimensional, and may be created using:
- Painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic)
- Drawing (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, markers, pastels)
- Photography (digital & film)
- Digital Art (computer graphics)
Subject Matter and Suitability:
- All entries must be student’s original work and not violate any US copyright laws.
- Entries will be disqualified that unnecessarily depict violence or political controversy, profanity or nudity or promote illegal activities.
Judging:
Winners will be selected based on originality, imagination, artistic and technical merit. At no time will judges have access to students’ personal information. The judging panel will consist of CVCAF directors and may include certain California art gallery owners, museum representatives and/or art educators. Judging will occur after the contest ends on December 31, 2017 and the Winners will be notified on or before January 31, 2018. Winners will need to provide proof of their student status and signed parent/guardian release (within 30 days of notification) prior to receiving any prize. Proof of status will include one of the following: 1) copy of a valid student ID 2) confirmation email from art teacher, school administrator or school counselor from the school’s email address 3) copy of student’s report card. CVCAF reserves the right to extend the competition time period which will in turn extend the notification date for winners. All extensions, if any, will be posted on the CVC Arts Fest website.
Use of Entries:
CVCAF shall not own any rights to entries submitted, other than the expressly granted right to publicly display the winning entries on its website, news releases and/or other non-commercial media.
Conduct of Participation:
By entering the competition, students agree to adhere to these Rules and to abide by the decision of the judges. CVCAF reserves the right to disqualify any student acting in violation of these Rules or found tampering with the entry process, or with the operation of the competition or website. Any attempt to deliberately damage or undermine the operation of the competition may be in violation of criminal and civil laws, and CVCAF reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies (including attorney fees) from any such individual to the fullest extent of the law, including criminal prosecution. The competition is governed by the laws of the United States, US-flag territories and Canada (excluding Quebec) by entering, all students submit to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state and local courts located in Riverside County, California.
Limitations and Release of Liability:
By entering the competition, students agree to release, discharge, indemnify and to hold harmless CVC Arts Foundation and CVC Arts Fest, its directors, officers, volunteers and participating competition judges from and against any and all claims of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims of copyright infringement by any part whatsoever; as well as any other claims, damages or liability of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize, participation in any competition-related activity, or participation in this competition. CVCAF reserves the right to modify, extend, suspend or terminate the Contest in the event that it becomes necessary due to circumstances beyond CVCAF’s control. In the event the Competition is terminated early, Winners will be selected from all eligible entries received at the time of termination.
Finalist Notification & Winners List:
Winners will be posted to the CVC Arts Fest website beginning on January 31, 2018. CVCAF reserves the right to extend the competition time period which will in turn extend the notification date for winners. All extensions, if any, will be posted on the CVC Arts Fest website.
Privacy Policy - Highlights
We believe in privacy and in protecting the privacy rights of our student artists. Highlights of our Privacy Policy are as follows:
- CVCAF will not share any information collected from our student entries or any student artworks uploaded during the entry process with any company, individual or agencies.
- CVCAF will not share Student Home and School Addresses with any company, individual or agencies.
- Home Address or School Address information will only be used by CVCAF to contact the winners of the contest.
- CVCAF will not post student names, student information or any artworks submitted on our website during or after the CVC ARTS FEST competition; however, we will publish the winners’ names (first name and last initial only) along with name of School and location (City and State only) along with the winning art entries per category.
- CVCAF shall not own any rights to entries submitted, other than the expressly granted right to publicly display the winning entries on its website, news releases and/or other non-commercial media.
